Columbia man arrested on suspicion of assault

COLUMBIA — A Columbia man was arrested Tuesday following an incident at Blue Acres Trailer Court, according to a Boone County Sheriff's Department news release.

Silas Kintara, 46, was arrested on suspicion of assault and unlawful use of a weapon.

According to the release, deputies arrived at 4001 S. Ponderosa at 6:06 p.m. The victim, whose name has not been released, reported that Kintara stabbed him with a screwdriver.

The victim reported that Kintara later struck him over the head with an unopened can of beer, knocked him to the ground and kicked him several times, the release stated.  The victim returned to his residence, according to the release.

According to the release, Kintara followed the victim to his home with a knife.  The victim had minor injuries and refused medical attention, according to the release.

As of 10:40 a.m. Wednesday, Kintara was still being held at Boone County Jail with bail set at $9,000.
