MU junior doubles as acoustic rocker, performs tonight

Thursday, October 9, 2008 | 5:29 p.m. CDT

COLUMBIA —Paul Flo, an acoustic guitar player, vocalist and junior at MU, will perform Friday at the Cherry Street Artisan with Paul Schultz performing backup guitar and vocals.

The show begins at 9:30 p.m., after Paul Jackson performs the opening act.

Flo has been playing guitar for 10 years and has seven years of performing experience. He released a self-titled album four years ago, and a new album, "Go with the Flo," has been in the works for the past five months.

"Ten years ago, my mom bought me an acoustic guitar," Flo said. "I decided to start playing it."

Flo said his music is alternative-rock-acoustic with a sound similar to Dave Matthews. He performs two or three times a month throughout Columbia, mostly at private events but occasionally in venues such as the Blue Fugue.

He plans to continue performing and pursuing his major in psychology with a minor in financial planning. Flo also teaches guitar to beginning college-aged guitar players.
