It's inhumane to use Tasers, ever

Wednesday, August 6, 2008 | 10:08 a.m. CDT

As I contemplate my future as a First Ward resident and a citizen of Columbia, I find it very disturbing and confusing as to what actually is humanity. What is it that makes us totally human? Have we evolved to dominate and conquer electricity by inventing and using Tasers, as well as having dominion over animals? I honestly believe that inventor Thomas Edison would curse us to proverbial hell and damnation to know that in 2008, we actually believe and use electricity to control and inflict pain upon another. His invention to use electricity was economic and humanitarian, in the sense of its use in the medical field. It is an age-old practice to cause bewilderment to the masses, first it was water.

So sad and sickening, and it does not cause "excited delirium," being sarcastic, or satisfaction to know that I am among those who honestly believe we should keep a few of these around.

No matter how many pages of information the council presents, it will never ever make me condone the use of any weapon of mass destruction. Will the real human beings stand up? No Tasers, please.
