Two men injured in head-on collision at intersection of Derby Ridge Road, Smiley Lane

COLUMBIA — A head-on collision at the intersection of Derby Ridge Road and Smiley Lane sent two Columbia drivers to hospitals Tuesday evening, according to Traffic Unit Supervisor Timothy Moriarity of the Columbia Police Department.

Sean Lord, 20, was attempting to make a left turn onto Derby Ridge Road from Smiley Lane when his car collided head on with another vehicle traveling west on Smiley Lane, Moriarity said.

The driver of the second vehicle, Arnel Monroe, 41, sustained an injury to his upper right thigh, and Lord suffered injuries to his knee and neck, Moriarity said. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.

Police are investigating the accident.
