Man robbed near Garth Avenue

COLUMBIA — A 25-year-old man was robbed by three people early Thursday morning in central Columbia.

The armed robbery took place at 12:45 a.m. near Garth Avenue and Noble Court, a Columbia Police Department news release said. The man was walking south on Garth when three people approached him from behind. One person displayed a hand gun and demanded that the man hand over his property. The man was then struck with the gun and another person punched him.

After being struck, the man handed his wallet to the suspects and they fled westbound from Garth Avenue and Lynn Street, the release said. No medical attention was needed by the victim and the only injury was a minor bruise to the face.
