Philips Lake opens for fishing

COLUMBIA — Bristol Lake, located on an area known as the Philips property, will be opening Friday for fishermen and boaters under the management of Columbia Parks and Recreation.

Here’s what you need to know:

Fishermen: There is a daily catch limit of six bass, four catfish, 30 crappie and 20 other fish combined. Bass between 12 to 15 inches must be released.

Boaters: There is no boat ramp at the lake, but nonmotorized boats and boats with electric trolling motors are allowed and will need to be carried in and out of the water.

Swimmers: No swimming allowed.

Take Grindstone Parkway to Bearfield Road, turn south; from Bearfield Road turn east on Gans Road; turn north on Bristol Lake Parkway.

There is no parking lot, so visitors should park along Bristol Lake Parkway. The park hours are 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
