Woman says man with a gun tried to rob her in her car

COLUMBIA — A woman said a man tried to rob her late Friday night while she was stopped at a light at the intersection of Grindstone and Rock Quarry, Columbia police said.

According to a news release, a man in a ski mask approached the open driver’s side window of the woman’s vehicle on foot, showed her a handgun and demanded money.

The woman said she immediately drove away without giving the man anything and called police about 10 minutes later. Officers searched the area but were unable to find the suspect.

The incident happened just before midnight Friday.
