Columbia residents marked the five-year anniversary of the Iraq War during a peace vigil on Monday at the Boone County Courthouse. Maha Mahir, 6, holds the hand of her father, Zaid, while she and her sister, 4-year-old Ghada, listen to the list of Iraqis who have been killed since the war began in 2003. The Mahir family is originally from Iraq, with Zaid coming about a year ahead of his wife and two daughters, all of whom arrived in 2006. Columbia firefighters put on masks and prepare to enter a room at the Arrow Head Motel, 1411 Business Loop 70 E. on Wednesday morning after a fire was reported there. Seven units at the motel were damaged by smoke; three had damage from the fire. No injuries were reported.   ¦  JOSHUA A. BICKEL

MU's Jacob Priday is hit by a pitch to end the Tigers' game against Baylor on March 23. Baylor had loaded the bases after falling behind 11-2 in the seventh inning before striking Priday, which allowed Lee Fischer to walk home from third base for the final run.   ¦  ALEX LEWIS
