Estella Kay van Schenkhof

Ben and Emily van Schenkhof had great expectations about being expectant parents. So great, that they named their baby after a character in the Charles Dickens book “Great Expectations.”
“We didn’t know if it was going to be a boy or a girl,” said Emily van Schenkhof, the baby’s mother. “My sister suggested ‘Estella’ from the book ‘Great Expectations,’ which we both used to read. When she was born, it just fit her.”
Estella Kay van Schenkhof was born at 7:39 p.m. on Feb. 4, 2008, at Boone Hospital Center. She weighed 7 pounds, 15 ounces.
Emily said the baby is very cute and doing great. Family members are excited to have her, she said.
“Her dad is totally enthralled with her,” Emily said. “Her grandmother is always helpful. Everyone is thrilled because she is the first grandbaby on either side of the family.”
